INSTALLING A STRUT: 10 EASY STEPS

One of the phases of a fence installation that can cause more problems or doubts is the strut placement. But let’s start from the beginning. 

But what’s a strut? What’s its purpose?

A strut is a post you can use in corners, when the fence suffers a direction change or, in a linear fence, every 25mt. 

Its purpose is to guarantee a better resistance to the whole fence.

And how can we install it?

Let’s analyse all the steps to take: 

  1. Make a pre-hole to install the first post: this step will allow you to test the soil and to create a runner for the insert screwing. 
  2. If necessary, wet the ground: keep on hand some water to wet the ground if it proves to be hard; in this way, when installing the insert the friction will be less hard.  
  3. Screw the insert using the appropriate nut-runner with the level incorporated in it and following the runner made with the pre-hole. 
  4. Put the chosen post into the insert. 
  5. Fix the insert cap to guarantee a better fastening.
  6. Take measures to install the second post: generally, except for particular situations, the recommended distance between the posts is 2mt.
  7. Repete the steps from 1 to 5 for the second post installation.
  8. Put the appropriate collar for struts in both posts. 
  9. Put the strut in the appropriate collar joint.
  10. Tighten the collar to guarantee the correct fixing of the strut. 

Now your strut is properly assembled and you can go on with the installation of the mesh to complete your fence.
